In the remote reaches of Chilean Patagonia, a dwindling group of gauchos known as Puesteros continue to live an isolated and traditional life despite the advance of the modern world. Their way of life and traditions shaped by the striking and sometimes harsh landscape, weather and history of the area.  While gauchos are often romanticized on screen, Los Puesteros offers a rare and intimate portrait of the people behind the myth—captured through remarkable access and trust.

The film follows seven puesteros at different life stages, weaving their stories into a collective meditation on time, isolation, class, and sacrifice of the Magellanic gaucho.  As modernity encroaches and younger generations drift away, Los Puesteros asks what is lost—and what endures—when a way of life begins to vanish.
